Oh my goodness, how do you draw that well? Lmao seriously I tried drawing excel yesterday (its on my page), and whilst I was happy with it, this powns it! XD Mind if i steal some of your uber-dna and implant it into myself
Oh, I can't take credit for this one-- I just painted it. The person that commissioned it sent me a screencap, and I just made it larger and traced the outlines. So, I can't really take credit, except for the painting part of it. ;;;;
Heh, nope, not yet! The only store that had the whole series went out of business last month, so online is the only way I can get ahold of it now... I'm hoping to get it for my birthday perhaps though!
This is really well done ^^ the only way I really noticed it was a fancel was the very slight variations in the paint (since the excel saga anime is digitally colored, it's always perfectly smooth and flat).
It's one of my fave series, esp. if you've seen lots of other anime, like me Excel Saga parodies and makes fun of nearly everything in the anime universe. The box set of all 6 dvds is only like 80$- the full series. And most people on ebay sell it for even less than that (buyin the dvds separate can cost up to 30$ each- that's almost 200$ so the box set is definitely a good idea and deal ).
Thanks so much! Glad you like it! ^^ *blushes* I didn't realize that it was a CG series either (dangit. I was wanting a cel from it too... *kicks the dirt* Yeah, I've yet to see it, but the coloring looks so bright and vibrant that I wanted a cel anyway... )
It PARODIES other animes? YAYNESS!! I've GOTTA see it now! XD Hahaha!! And thanks for the buying tips, I'll try to save up for it!
I've seen production sketches for sale on ebay before, but yes, the series is digitally animated and colored~
And yes, it does parody anime, and just about everything else~ One review I read before said that nothing was sacred in Excel Saga, and that's totally true. Each episode begins with the creator giving his permission to turn the show into _______ (fill in the blank), whether it be a horror cliche, shojo romance, sci-fi opera, ultra-violence post-appacolypse show, etc.
The very first episode, Excel's first mission is to kill the creator, Koshi Rikdo~ who's sitting at his desk singing how animators and comic artists are the scum of the earth, have no talent, etc.
I definitely recommend this series, esp if you've seen a good amount of anime in the past. Oh forgot to mention~ the dvds have this nifty extra called "Vid-notes" It's like the old Pop-up Video on VH1, but this time, lil blurbs pop up explaining some of the more obscure jokes and japanese culture references, including Excel's never ending word puns (which get progressively more and more dumb >D). Keep a remote handy to pause, since theres ALOT of these notes-- it's a feature you can turn on/off.
Thank ya much!! I really had fun on her eyes & hair (I LOVE her hair!)! I actually used 3 different shades of metallic green for her eyes, but the middle & darkest shades blend together too much... >< Grrr....
no one's seen the show?! ack! it is very hilarious- don't start with the manga, please. it IS confusing- but funny. read it after you see the show. and you have to watch it in japanese and english. both very good voices- the english one can get annoying, but always funny- turn it to the cute/funny japanese excel!
yeah- great pic btw. excel is pretty cute- but rather vulgar compared to her quiet, sweet sidekick- hyatt-chan! like the hotel.... i believe all the characters were named based on hotels in japan... wacky show- should have it at any good blockbuster...
Really? Judging by how she looks, I would've seen her as being the cuter one... Of course, she DOES look like she's deceptively up to something... ^^
Thanks for recommending the series, I'll have to check it out!
